Amber’s video

Hello, I haven’t been around for so long. Well, I have been quite busy, am still busy but miss bragging about Amber here. (who wouldn’t like bragging their pretty awesome kid!) So here I am with a video of Amber.

I wanted to show how I clip Amber’s claws, and it happens every night. If I miss a night, next day her claws start making tracks on my skin. For 2 days, my skin starts bleeding from it. Imagine that how sharp the wild squirrels’ claws would be…

I asked Chris to record it couple days ago, Amber is pretty good getting her claws clipped. She knows that she doesn’t have a choice, besides she gets a NUT afterwards. XD

The thing still amazes me is that, when I pick a callus off her paws which might be hurtful, she doesn’t attack me back. You can tell that she doesn’t like me picking at it from the video. She knows I wouldn’t hurt her, I know she wouldn’t hurt me, that’s the trust between me and her.

Check it out for yourself!

+ She squeaks when I clip the sensitive ones. Literally twice I had made her bled, and it got sensitive since.

Hi ShyKJ, Chris and Amberific, Wow what a treat to finally get to see a video of what is probably the most best behaved sweet little girl in the world. I just don’t understand how she cannot be more upset with your nail trimming, what good patience you taught her, I would be joining Chris in stereo saying ‘give it to her, she’s been good’. I was wondering about squirrel calluses, do they have any positive benefits, I remember reading some calluse harden and protect but not sure what I read it in context of. At any rate, it probably doesn’t apply to indoor squirrels.

The trust you two have in one another is truly remarkable, I can’t get over how Amber puts her head inside your mouth, both of you are very trusting there.

Thanks for sharing the video, miss little Amber, she still is so beautiful too,

Hello Tom! Glad to hear that you loved my video. Yes, yes, I agree with you, she is so beautiful and so great. We are still amazed by her everyday although I don’t understand how she stands me. (I am such a ANNOYING mama..) Haha

To be honest, I have not searched or heard of squirrel calluses. When I spotted it for the 1st time, Chris had looked up and told me about it, which I don’t remember, it got bigger/hard, Amber seems uncomfortable to walk. Since then I just pick it off when it is big enough. If it’s new, it is soft, seems hurt her more than do it when it’s hard. Maybe in wild, it wears off by jumping or running a lot of hard surface, for Amber it doesn’t have a chance.

How have you been?? The ear pain you mentioned in May isn’t bothering you by now. It’s a season for me to pick acorns and pine cones. Gotta stock up the Food for mah baby. =) Hope everything is well with you.
